Senior Front-End Software Developer

Smartskin is seeking a full-time Senior Front-End Software Developer who is excited about building amazing user experiences to manage a growing array of proprietary sensor data that allow customers to gain insights about their manufacturing lines that were not previously possible.

Responsibilities

  • Own and create intuitive, fluent and responsive user interfaces. Build fast-rendering reusable and extendable front-end components using React.
  • Build individual components as well as entire web applications.
  • Work with other development team members to distill internal and customer needs into requirements and tech specs
  • Build new features
  • Enjoy getting the MVP out the door, and you know that great user experience takes ongoing investment, refinement, and polish.
  • Drive high engineering standards on the team through code review, automated testing, and mentoring

Qualifications

  • You have 4-8 years of experience building fast-rendering reusable and extendable components using HTML, CSS and modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries such as React, Redux, Angular, Typescript, styled-components, and webpack.
  • You have experience with one or more graphing libraries such as Recharts, ECharts, Highcharts, or D3
  • You have a very strong understanding of REST APIs.
  • You know that the code you ship is only as dependable and predictable as the tests you write
  • You bring experience with build patterns common to web technology stacks, you love shipping amazing products and you sweat the little things around user experience.
  • Experience with championing good engineering habits (development techniques, TDD, security, and tech debt balance, agile habits) within your team
  • Strong communication skills: in person, on paper, or in code. You can explain technical concepts to product managers, other engineers, and support
  • Experience working with remote teams is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with other development team members to distill internal and customer needs into requirements and tech specs
  • Build new features
  • Architect new systems and design APIs with a focus on scalability, testability, and maintainability
  • Help resolve technical issues and blockers for internal and external customers
  • Drive high engineering standards on the team through code review, automated testing, and mentoring
  • Collaborate with colleagues on a small energetic team

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 4-8 years of Software development experience
  • Experience owning and operating services end-to-end, from debugging and testing to release management and monitoring
  • Experience with relational, non-relational, and time-series data stores
  • Experience with distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
  • Focus on designing and implementing systems for scalability, testability, supportability and maintainability
  • Experience with championing good engineering habits (development techniques, TDD, security, and tech debt balance, agile habits) within your team
